There are six shopping days left until Thanksgiving.
Put down the newspaper, click off the computer, and go to the grocery store.
Now is the time to buy less-perishable food items for Thanksgiving, says Courtney Contos, a chef and cooking instructor who owns a kitchen store in Shelburne, Chef Contos.
This means butter, baking ingredients, wine, nuts, potatoes and root vegetables. There are many reasons to be super-organized and ultra-prepared if you are hosting Thanksgiving.
One of them is to have an extra bottle of wine in the house to drink as you make certain advance preparations, and on the big day.
“I find nothing wrong with enjoying a nice glass of wine at any point during my day of cooking,” Contos wrote in an email.
